"If You're Looking for Burlington's Coolest Band, Look No Further"
--Burlington Free Press
"Currently Vermont's secret, The Cush have delivered a fine record that's well worth seeking out and thoroughly deserves to generate the band much wider acclaim than they seem to have garnered thus far." -Geraint Jones, Comes with a Smile (UK)
Burette and Gabrielle Douglas, the Husband-Wife duo, and masterminds of psychedelic indie-rock music group, The Cush bring a sound all their own. Formed in Dallas, Texas in 2000, The Cush features sympathetic songwriting armed with vintage tape delays and a batch of psych-pop mini suites. The two recorded their self-titled debut before deciding to relocate to the cold northeast of Burlington, Vermont.
With their sophomore release on Undertow Music Collective, "New Appreciation for Sunshine," which had the band featured in the Dream Machine Music Festival (UK), and plans of touring the United States in anticipation of their third release. The Douglas Husband-Wife composers bring The Cush to experimental pop alchemy of the highest order.
Vitals is a post-rock band hailing from Burlington, Vermont. Drawing inspiration from the unforgiving climate, they have crafted a sound that is oddly familiar while remaining unique.
Hezekiah Jones is Raphael Cutrufello, here are some words on him…
"...Then there's Raph Cutrufello, the prototypical intellectual bohemian, a renaissance man if you will. If you have ever heard someone described as "When they made him, they broke the mold." Raph is as unique and inventive as a modern-day Ben Franklin. With his incisive and biting wit, thrift store attire and the last person on earth who still uses a typewriter, he toils in obscurity as one of the world's great-undiscovered writers. Growing up in Havertown and currently residing in the Fishtown-Northern Liberties section of Philly, Raph is the quintessential poet's poet. Soft-spoken, charming, hilarious. Three words that describe Raph. How he writes lyrics is how I imagine Quentin Tarantino writing a screenplay: "I pre-write on the typewriter and it's a hodge-podge of poetry from a bunch of un-related ideas that I somehow pull together." Being a left-hander, he plays a guitar upside-down better than most people play right side up..."
--Jimmy Mac, Compendium Music Magazine Vol. 1 Issue 1
"...His is a folk that has contemporary equals in artists like M. Ward, Iron & Wine, and Will Oldham... This is not your average musical poetry."
--Robinson, Miles Of Music
"...Hezekiah Jones sounds like a moody old folk 33 that's been made aware of today's lo-fi scene but opts out of the irony."
