"In 2001 Ian Molla and Kevin Coffrin; the two founding members of The Urgency moved away from their hometown of Vermont to take their honored places at Ithaca University in New York where they both studied Jazz in a step to take their musical talents to the next level. There they met their soon to be drummer Guerin Blask. The trio continued their musical endeavors out of study hours by playing local shows in various different bands. Once they had successfully completed their respective courses the three, who now had a taste for the Rock lifestyle, moved into New York City to grab some more spotlight and take a step up as a band. They knew they needed much more to take them there though. Queue Tyler Gurwicz, a young 18 year old with the same aspirations as his new friends. He dropped out of college after just one short term and joined the band full time.
In February'08 the band signed a deal with Major Label Island/Def Jam and have just finished working with renowned producer David Bendeth (Paramore, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Hawthorne Heights). The album, which title is self titled, is due out early '09, and the bands first single from it will be Fingertips; a track currently uploaded onto their MySpace page. May welcomed their final member Ryan Siegel on guitar; completing the intensely talented line up.
Punchy and clear with well timed breaks and beats, The Urgency's sound is crisp, clean Rock telling tales of revenge, love, girls, sex and pleasure. Lead singer Tyler pushes out each word of the songs he sings, the lines welling up inside his chest, spilling out with venom and truth.
The Urgency plays each and every live show as if to an Academy. Give them that and they'll play as if to an Arena."
