As a hip hop band, Philadelphia Slick feels obligated to keep their ears tuned into everything. They cherish rap music because of its ability to cut across styles, tying differences together with drum loops, bass lines, and poetry. Funk, Soul, and Jazz were starting points, but the group has since branched out to incorporate classical, tango, techno, and other genres into their music. What results is a sound that is “both retro and futuristic in equal doses” according to Under the Radar. At times a tight trio, at times a sprawling orchestral twelve piece, Slick is able to rock venues from small bars to large theaters with a consistently energetic and diverse sound. Wonka Vision observes, “(Lead Emcee) Noesis likes to concoct rhymes that don’t just center around blind insults and rampant ego strokes.” After three years the group still doesn't feature a guitar; Slick's drummer doesn't use toms except to hold set lists or samplers. The group is currently at work on their second LP (Oil) to be released in May 2009. It has taken DJ GI Joe quite a few years to find himself where he is today. He has toured the world and rocked for crowds of thousands of people on four continents. He has made his name known not only as a DJ but as a bboy as well, doing his best to keep hip hop alive and thriving. It’s obvious that hip hop is a large force behind his life, but what many may not know is that his fascination with music almost prevented him from being able to do what he loved before he even realized how much he loved it.

Natural Ingredients was formed in 2006 by four kids at UVM in Burlington, Vermont with mutual musical interest in the art of hip hop. Hailing from Maine, Vermont, New York and New Jersey, the four original members of Natty I came together with a unifying passion to create original tracks for both themselves and, of course, the party people. Since 2006, four different lives have led to geographical separations among the four creators of the group, and presently N.I. consists primarily of two — Anonymous Accomplice & Entricut. Of the other two members, one is presently developing a career in audio in NYC, and the other was last seen somewhere deep in the Green Mountains..
