About Hicks Foundation
Allison Hicks was diagnosed with advanced cervical cancer at the age of 29. Within days of the diagnosis she underwent radical surgery that left her unable to bear children. Allison’s trauma was particularly intense because she is a trained doula, working to care for mothers and babies. After extensive treatment Allison transformed her personal struggle into action and created The Hicks Foundation so no woman would have to go through what she endured.
The Hicks Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is the eradication of cervical cancer in the state of Vermont. The foundation runs free cervical cancer screening days statewide and offers education programs and policy development about Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and its connection to cervical cancer and effective prevention and screening.
