“I’m not happy unless I see someone out there in the pit, bleeding and smiling.” – Gary Holt

For the troops in the trenches, it began in 1982 with a low generation copy of a local band’s three-song demo. For some, it began with their first listen to Combat Records’ version of Bonded By Blood in 1986. Still others will say what really mattered began on August 11th, 2001. Regardless of the year, these dates all have one thing in common: the tenacity of Gary Holt.

One cannot discuss the power and influence of EXODUS without going into the genealogy of metal music itself. Long hailed as the band that spawned the burgeoning Bay Area Thrash scene in the early ‘80s, the band’s most admirable quality is that the word “surrender” has never existed in lead guitarist/songwriter/General-In-Chief Gary Holt’s vocabulary. Surviving decampment (original guitarist Kirk Hammett left to join Metallica in 1983), death (original vocalist Paul Baloff died in early 2002), untimely disaster (long-time second vocalist Steve Souza abandoned the band in 2004 on the eve of a South American tour), dejection (original drummer Tom Hunting was incapacitated by panic attacks in May 2005), and drug abuse (guitar comrade-in-arms Rick Hunolt’s resignation in June 2005 was due in part to addiction issues), it would have been easier for many to interpret these events as a signal to retire, but then again, not everyone is Gary Holt.
Obituary
Obituary
Obituary is a death metal band from Tampa, Florida. Formed in 1985 as Executioner, then changed spelling to Xecutioner, the band changed their name shortly before the release of their first album Slowly We Rot in 1989. The band are regarded as influential proponents of the Floridian death metal sound that emerged in the late 1980s and officially they are one of the best-selling death metal bands of all time.

Following the release of their fifth album - 1997's Back From The Dead - Obituary disbanded, although a live album Dead surfaced a year later.

In 2005 the band reformed, recording the reunion album Frozen In Time, since then, the band has continued to tour and release new material.
Power Trip
Power Trip
Power Trip are a crossover thrash metal band from Dallas, Texas. Their sound -- an inseparable mix of hardcore punk, speed, and death metal -- was informed by the sounds of the Cro-Mags, Vio-Lence, Nuclear Assault, and Leeway, and draws fans from across the extreme music spectrum.

The band began as a five-piece in Dallas, Texas in 2008. Their initial lineup consisted of bassist Chris Whetzel, drummer Marcus, vocalist Riley Gale, and guitarists Blake "Rossover" Ibanez, and Nicky "Thrasher" Stewart. They released a collection of five demos that same year. In 2009 Marcus left and was eventually replaced by veteran Chris Ulsh (Hatred Surge, Mammoth Grinder, the Impalers). They released a four-song EP entitled Armageddon Blues. They also began touring, first throughout Texas, then the Southwest and California, and then nationally. Usually, in addition to the band and their gear, an extended voluntary entourage would travel with them -- often in the same van -- to help with hauling gear, working the merchandise table and the box office, etc. After non-stop touring for nearly a year, and a well-deserved break (in which Ibanez went away to school), Power Trip recorded a self-titled three-song EP, which was released in 2011, before more touring, including an appearance at the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival.

Manifest Decimation In 2013, PT signed with Southern Lord, and made a splash with their showcase at SXSW. They commenced recording their debut full-length with veteran producer and mixing engineer Arthur Rizik. The album was released in June of that year as Manifest Decimation, with a sleeve design by legendary heavy metal artist Paolo Girardi.
