dunk!USA
Beginning in 2005, Belgium’s dunk!festival has grown into the world’s pre-eminent post-rock event. But for the potentially-cynical festivalgoer, it is more than what you may have come to expect from the bloated corporate cash-grabs that drop in every summer with cookie cutter lineups and $15 beers. The dunk!festival is about a community coming together to experience the best the genre has to offer, and it is curated not only to bring the best audio and visual experience to the table, but also to offer a friendly place for like-minded people from all over the world to gather and meet. This includes the artists, who can often be found cohabitating with fans over freshly-catered food, great beer and free coffee. Over the years, the list of bands that have graced the Dunk! stage has become increasingly impressive, including the likes of Russian Circles, This Will Destroy You, Mono, God Is An Astronaut, Pelican, 65daysofstatic, Caspian, Amenra, And So I Watch You From Afar, Ef, Jakob, The Ocean and so many more, making this THE destination for post-rock and post-metal fans every May. Thirteen years after its inaugural edition, the EU festival is thriving and has become one of the major supporters of the scene. As such, focus has shifted to the next step. For as many great American post-rock bands as there are, there is no festival stateside that truly represents the genre. That changes this year.
In tandem with Bozeman, Montana’s A Thousand Arms - a growing force in the American post-rock landscape – dunk! is mounting their first ever US edition. Considering the impact that American bands have had on the global growth of this genre over the years, it only makes sense to bring this event to all the fans stateside. After a period of searching, the dunk! folks have found their second home in beautiful Burlington, VT – a town small enough to foster the intimate vibes of the Belgian festival, but also cultured enough to “get” it. It is also no doubt a wonderful destination for post-rock travelers from all points abroad. The first edition of dunk!USA will be taking place Saturday and Sunday, October 7th and 8th, 2017 at Higher Ground in South Burlington, and should prove to be the most exciting domestic event to date for fans of the genre.
Russian Circles
Russian Circles
Russian Circles is a three piece instrumental band from Chicago, Illinois.
They were formed in late 2004 by guitarist Mike Sullivan and bassist Colin DeKuiper, both ex-members of instrumental band dakota/dakota.
Drummer Dave Turncrantz, ex-member of Riddle Of Steel, joined soon after.
They self-released a 4 track CD-EP and signed with Flameshovel (US) and Black Records (UK) for their first full length on CD and to Hewhocorrupts (US) and Friction Records (GER) for the vinyl.
Another limited 7" came out on Suicide Squeeze. In November 2007 they'll start recording their second album.

Junius
Eerily, hypnotically heavy.
JUNIUS are excited to reveal new music with their new full-length album, "Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light" via PROSTHETIC RECORDS.
The album marks the completion of their conceptual trilogy which began in 2009 with their evoking LP "The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist", depicted by Rolling Stone as "a perfect hybrid of Neurosis and The Smiths". "Reports from the Threshold of Death" was released in 2011 to commemorate their signing with Prosthetic Records, and JUNIUS then returned to their conceptual project with their 2014 EP "Days of the Fallen Sun”.
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Radar Studio with Will Benoit (Caspian, Rosetta), "Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light" takes inspiration from Elisabeth Haich's autobiography "Initiation", whilst touching on topics including karma, reincarnation and spiritual development across it's ten melodically divine tracks. Following the departure of former members Mike Repasch-Nieves (guitars), the album was written and performed entirely by vocalist/guitarist Joseph E. Martinez and drummer Dana Filloon, and also features guest appearances from Drew Speziale (Circle Takes the Square) and Gian Minardi (General Public).
Arms and Sleepers
Arms and Sleepers
Arms and Sleepers, composed of Boston duo Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic, revealed itself to the world more than a decade ago. In that time, the group has put out 26 releases, collaborated with dozens of prominent artists (Tom Brosseau of Fat Cat Records, Philip Jamieson of Caspian, Ben Shepard of Uzi & Ari) and worked on numerous remixes (Caspian, Helios, Ef, Tape Deck Mountain, and others). They played the Belgian edition of dunk!festival in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. So how could we ever have a historical milestone like this very first dunk!USA edition without these festival favorites on the line-up? Never! So here they are, as a full band closing the second stage with their, let's call it post-hiphop beats.
Coastlands
Coastlands
Post-Rock. Ambient. Instrumental. Portland, Oregon

Coastlands is an instrumental ambient/post-rock band out of Portland, Oregon. Formed in 2011, The four piece lineup features Jason Sissoyev and Nick Fisher on guitars, Jordan Householder on 7-string guitar and Rick Keefer on drums and percussion. Drawn together by a mutual love of music and a penchant for unusual instrumentation and recording methods, each member lends elements of their diverse musical experience, resulting in a sound that is expansive, cinematic, ethereal and highly textured. They have produced several EP’s and a handful of singles since their inception. They have been featured in a couple of documentaries, and their most recent release, Come Morning, A Radiant Light, sold out it’s first edition within days of announcing its pre release. Citing influence from artists such as Ef, Mono, Mogwai, and Logh, their own interpretation of the genre is heavily guitar-laden and woven with distortion and atmospheric resonance that traces the sweeping landscape of the Pacific Northwest.

The End of the Ocean
The End of the Ocean
Emerging from Columbus, Ohio in the early 2010’s, The End of the Ocean were tagged by many as one of the primary torch-bearers for the next wave of American post-rock after the inspirational halcyon days that birthed eventual legends such as Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, Caspian and Red Sparowes. Their 2011 LP Pacific-Atlantic and subsequent 2012 EP In Excelsis have been acclaimed as two of the finest releases of this decade to date, due in large part to the band’s ability to balance rich, thoughtful melodic passages, high-energy riff-wielding and truly epic climactic outpourings. Their live performance serves as a transformative platform on which they amend their longer compositions, offering viewers compacted variations that crystallize the emotional power that lies at the heart of their work. Five years after their last release, The End of the Ocean return in 2017 with a long-awaited new album that is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated of the year, making their upcoming performances destination events for fans of post-rock everywhere.

Unconditional Arms
Unconditional Arms
Unconditional Arms from Oakland, CA is a band conceptualized around gifts and movement. In 2013 the project began with a simple idea; to write and record an album as a gift to Jeff's newborn son. Since then, it has grown to become a living, breathing entity.
KYOTY
KYOTY from Dover, New Hampshire convinced us a long time ago with their 2012 album 'Undiscovered Country of Old Death and Strange Years in the Frightful Past,’ and have been on our wishlist ever since. Now that we are setting up our stage not too far away we couldn't let this opportunity slip away so we invited them to bring their atmospheric sludge to dunk!USA 2017.
