Internship Program

Want to get more involved with Higher Ground?

There are several different internship positions and they each require 10-15 hours per week in the office at the venue and there may be fieldwork or homework as well.

The internships are highly competitive and we demand reliable, honest, hard working individuals. Each internship position will have a different area of focus where special projects will be developed. All available positions are going to be filled for a starting date of spring 2010. All internships are unpaid. School credit is possible for internships.

Interested candidates should send email a resume and cover letter to Nick Vaden (promo@highergroundmusic.com).

BOOKING INTERN:
This intern will focus on the aspects of concert promotion relating to booking shows and being an agent. This intern will look at contracts and learn about the paperwork that goes into booking dates. Scouting bands and keeping track of all the incoming demos will be part of this job as well. A good intern in this position might eventually start working with a local band and begin to book regional shows for them.

GRASSROOTS MARKETING STREET TEAM INTERN:
This intern will be the student Captain of the venue’s Street Team and will be intimately involved in the show-by-show marketing plans. This intern will help to develop marketing materials as well as implement and oversee street marketing. This intern should have a willingness to hit the streets and also recruit other Street Team members.

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN:
We need an intern who is an artist with strong computer skills who can specialize in graphic design. This position will help to create marketing materials, strip ads, posters and anything else that comes up. Creativity a must and knowledge of the local art scene and local artists is a plus as well.

MEDIA / PUBLICITY INTERN:
Good writing skills are the most important criteria needed for this position as writing press releases will be an integral part of this internship. A desire to learn about New England’s various media outlets is required. Helping create strategies to increase media interest in the venue will be the focus of this position.

INTERNET GURU INTERN:
This intern will be an Internet wizard with knowledge of mailing lists, discussion boards and all the various music-related websites. Keeping Higher Ground’s website constantly up-to-date will be an important part of this position. Ideal person would be an indie Internet junky.

COMEDY INTERN:
This intern will focus energy into the venue’s comedy division. Working at the venue on comedy nights will be part of this job as well as maintaining the comedy mailing list. A great knowledge of stand-up comedians and comedy touring would be ideal (or at least a desire to learn about those things). Scouting would be part of this position.

All Internships are unpaid.
