“‘Dream’ was the inspiration for this poster. his voice, message, the rhythm- everything was just like a dream. I first started to design a more classical jazz or R&B poster, but I felt like that was just too expected and boring. So I decided to go freestyle. I listened to the music and let it guide me. It turned out to be a very surreal and dreamy kind of layout, which is very much like his music. I also wanted to mix old and new typefaces together, just like James mixes jazz with rock and roll, soul with country.”
