Higher Ground is proud to announce the return of the Northern Exposure. The Northern Exposure series provides an opportunity for up-and-coming Vermont bands to take the stage in the Higher Ground Showcase Lounge. Higher Ground is thrilled to provide an opportunity for developing acts to show their stuff at Burlington’s premier music venue. Think of it as a farm-system – artists that impress the HG team will be considered for slots supporting larger national acts at Higher Ground!

The shows are all ages, only cost $6, and will feature 3-4 acts. If you’re a motivated band that wants to play Higher Ground, this is your chance. Interested performers should email Bonnie Hiliadis at, with the subject line “NORTHERN EXPOSURE: your band name.”
Kastaway is a Dj duo made up of Montel Tucker, 22, and Dylan Tester, 20. They are both from Northern Vermont and have a deep passion for music. Their sound consists of Dubstep and Bass House. They have gained positive support and feedback from thriving artists such as Frankie Steel and Noah Benhaim, and they opened up for Riggi & Piros at the sold out HyperglowU 2017 show. They have performed with Blaise Venga, Dj GaGu, and several other up and coming Vermont Djs.
Laziness won't pay rent. Odd jobs barely support a family so a young kid constructed Khaosity a cold winters night in the green mountains of Vermont in 2012 so he could give his girl and future family the life he never had a life filled with happiness. Though Khaosity didn't release a project until 2016 Khaosity has been writing lyrics and performing at house parties and other small events. Khaosity wants to bring Green Mountain hip hop to the front line of the hip hop world with lyrics that are genuine and from the heart, with lyrical content that channels a lot of emotion through past experiences such as heartbreak, depression, ups and downs, being bullied and behind autistic. Instead of letting bullies, heartbreaks, a social disability and depression get to him he has risen above adversity and is making his dream of becoming one of hip hops biggest stars a reality.
As far as underground music goes, Italics is definitely a name you havent heard of, yet. The producer duo has been working diligently and secretly, formulating something new and refreshing. Their debut show will bring you a sound you didn't realize you were looking for. Focusing mainly on making music, rather than writing within a genre, Italics brings fourth a sound in electronic music which no one has ever experienced. Their songs harmonize with each other, creating a dark ambiance flowing like a river through the catacombs of the mind. They aim to expose the beauty hidden within the darkness, giving people a chance to take something more from the show.
Clayton Sansone AKA Drive is an 18 year old Hip-Hop enthusiast turned Hip-Hop artist who prides himself on wordplay, storytelling, and lyrical ability. From tracks with that old school sound with nothing but clever punchlines and strings of rhymes, to heartfelt stories, Drive has a variety of different sounds. He started writing simply to vent and deal with emotion but what started as just an angry kid scribbling in a notebook has evolved into live shows, Collaborations with other artists, and his debut mixtape “Showcase”. His main goal is to get his message and views on the world out there all while having fun and staying true to his roots.
