A personal note from Grace:
It is with deep disappointment that we’ve decided to postpone the 10th annual Grand Point North.
For folks who have attended the festival in past years, you know how much it means to me. It is a reflection of who I am and where I came from. This heavy decision came in the face of the current restrictions on public gatherings, but more importantly, it’s about keeping faith with the soul intention of Grand Point North.
In 2007 when Matt Burr, Alex Crothers and I started dreaming big dreams of a music festival in Vermont, we knew we wanted to keep it intimate. I wanted fans to really feel like they’re sharing an experience with the performers. Likewise, I wanted the bands & fans who came in from out-of-state to witness the amazing Vermont community & really feel the difference from other larger festivals. When I pictured what Grand Point North would look & feel like with the current circumstances, my heart sank to the bottom of Lake Champlain.
No one knows quite what live music will look like in the coming year, but one thing is for certain: live music and fear do not belong in the same space. Luckily, music too powerful a force to remain subdued for long. I believe that humans need & deserve live music and even as I write this note, folks all across the music community are coming up with solutions — creating safe & innovative settings for enjoying the live music experience.
While I’m gutted that I cannot celebrate with you all this September, I cannot wait for next September when we’ll FINALLY have a chance to gather on the glorious Burlington Waterfront, watch the sun set over the Adirondack Mountains, and celebrate 10 amazing years of Grand Point North!
See y’all soon! Until then, keep the light on. Love, Grace
